Also, my grandmother had a very elaborate, handmade Chinese Checkers board, which we all used to gather around at Christmas. Lots of fun for everyone, whatever it was. It reminded me of times we spent playing some kind of card game with poker chips and an elaborate game board, the rules of which I can no longer remember. She had discovered some new kind of dice game that involved shuffling money left, right, or in the pot, which her family loved. I was, however, talking about this just today with a colleague who had her family and friends in for Christmas. My border collies are deeply into mind games, which they play with each other, but beyond that there's not a lot of group adult activity around here. Wow to your niece's gingerbread house! That's outstanding.
